History Channnel 's 'The Missouri'

Visit "The Missouri: A Journey with Steven Ambrose"
From the Plains Indians who made their homes on its banks, to the famed Lewis & Clark expedition, to all of the European settlers who followed in their wake, inhabitants of North America have looked to the Missouri River as their lifeline to the west. In the nearly two hundred years since Lewis & Clark's historic journey, however, the encroachment of human civilization has so transformed the Missouri that today, we can only imagine what the Missouri River must have looked like to Lewis and Clark's "Corps of Discovery."

Site includes an interactive map, online lesson plans, teachers manual and more.
