This National Register of Historic Places Travel Itinerary is produced by the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, and the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers.
A Guide to Visiting the Lands of Many Nations (2.2 MB PDF File)
The Circle of Tribal Advisors brochure, "A Guide to Visiting the Lands of Many Nations" provides information about the American Indian tribes whose homelands are along the Lewis and Clark trail. It includes details about the Bicentennial Commemoration as well as about the museums, historic sites, and other places of interest in Indian Country.
NOAA's Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Markers Program
NOAA commemorated the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial by placing geodetic markers at each signature event location. NOAA's National Geodetic Survey is a direct descendent from Thomas Jefferson's Office of Coast and Geodetic Survey Office, which he created to follow-up the L&C; mission to map and chart the new boundaries of the US in 1807. This website contains information about the markers and photo-archives from the signature events. The markers provide a very interesting way to retrace the the Trail and the Bicentennial.
